life together

So today I started my 9 day holiday. I am trying to relax and have fun, and do things I wouldn't do a lot of when I'm busy working all the time.
So far, I plan to:

-wax my legs
-go shopping
-draw something
-play guitar!
-go rafting
-go to a leadership conference
-read a lot
-maybe go on a silent retreat

Last night, Julie P, Julie C, Karyn and I hung out watching sad/fascinating TLC shows and we played Uno. We POWNED that game. Seriously. we had a game of uno that lasted for over an HOUR! and then eventually we had to cheat in order for someone to win!
Today we went to the Heritage day festivities at a park downtown. It was not as exciting as i expected, but it was a beautiful day and being outside was wonderful enough. I did really enjoy listening to this african band who played as part of Afrika Dey festival that started today. I forget sometimes how great some African music is and then it makes me feel all nostalgic...


As i have been hanging out with the Julies, Karyn and Sarah lately, I am realizing more and more the importance and meaning of 'life together' as mentioned in Acts 2:42-47. God has blessed me by bringing these wonderful friends into my daily life. I can be me...just me... and I feel loved.

another thing that makes me happy, is that my brothers live just around the corner from me now. I have been spending a lot of time with them and enjoying their company. I have been close with Dan for a long time, and consider him one of my very best friends. However, Riaan and I have not been as close but now that he lives here I am getting to know my older brother and it's great.

i'm off to bed. tomorrow I am going shopping. I need some new shorts/pants that actually fit. I have been wearing all last years stuff and most of it is a size too big.
